The Question 4/16: What anime did you check out this weekend?

I sure hope you did more this weekend than make sure your taxes were filed! I know I did! It was a very busy weekend indeed, but I actually had some time to check out some previously viewed anime.

We had a friend stay over for the weekend at our place, and this friend is open to any/all kinds of experiences. That means I had a chance to show her some anime! After going through my collection and looking for something that fit into genres she liked, we went with Full Metal Alchemist.

She checked out two episodes and is now absolutely hooked! This friend travels a lot for her work, but she's always got digital content lined up on her laptop. For her flights with in-flight wifi, she'll be continuing her time spent with FMA. I can't tell you how happy that makes me.

We also checked out the the first episode of FLCL, just to see what kind of reaction she had. She was intrigued, but said she would have to watch the first episode a few times over before she got what the hell was going on. That's an argument I can completely understand!

That was my anime fun for the weekend, now what was yours?

  1. Love introducing friends to anime they've never seen before. I started watching D Gray-man this weekend, and am really enjoying it. Also introduced a friend to Elfen lied

  2. I started watching Dream Eater Merry. Pretty entertaining so far (only a few episodes into it).

  3. You've introduced me to Lupin the Third, The Woman Called Fujiko Mine, which I've been watching with English subtitles here: http://www.funimation.com/lupin-the-third-fujiko-mine

The first two episodes were great, and I'm looking forward to the rest of the season.

  4. The list of notable shows this season is crazy. I'm currently watching 19 different new shows. Not to mention trying to finish up Toradora and slowly making my way through Gundam ZZ and Gintama.
    It's a little overwhelming...

Also, if anyone's curious about the new shows this season, I definitely have to recommend Space Brothers, Tsuritama, Mysterious Girlfriend X, and Kids on the Slope all of which are fantastic, (though the last one is a given).

  5. HUNTER X HUNTER LIKE ALWAYS.

EXCEPT THOSE WEEKS WITH THE RECAP EPISODES.

They really don't need one every 13 episodes.

  6. I finished watching Gurren Lagann for the first time and now all I can think is WHY DIDN'T I WATCH THIS YEARS AGO, IT WAS AMAZING.

I also watched some of this season's shows like Accel World and Fate/Zero and started a rewatch of Spice and Wolf Season 2.
