How has Gurren Lagann escaped me all this time?

I run an anime blog...I'm a big anime fan...I like collecting/viewing new and old anime alike.  I try to hunt down information on any/all anime that I can, because I'm always willing to give a series or film a shot.  I may not love it all, but I have a open door policy when it comes to viewing.  With all that focus on the world of anime, how is it possible that I have never seen Gurren Lagann?

Things are even worse than that.  Not only have I not seen a single second of any Gurren Lagann episode, I also knew absolutely nothing about the series.  All I really knew was the series' name, and that it had a pretty sizable following of fans.  Usually that's all it takes for me to check an anime out, but for some reason this anime had just slipped out of my mind years ago.

It wasn't until last night that it all hit me at full force.  While I was doing research for my Toonami article, I stumbled upon a discussion of Gurren Lagann on YouTube.  It lead me to research a bit on Wiki, and when I started reading about the series.  The more I got into the series description, the more I wanted to see what it was all about.  Then I hopped back over to YouTube to check out a trailer, and needless to say, I knew I had to pick it up!

I'm actually about to run out to Best Buy right now and grab a copy.  With all the great things I've read in the last 24 hours, I'm positive that I'm going to like what the show has to offer.  I cannot wait to find the time to actually sit and watch.  I plan on making that happen later tonight!

  1. Hope you enjoy it! I wish my Best Buy carried more, I have to order most of mine online because the anime section here is almost non-existent. It's actually easier to miss out on big shows than we'd think. There are some truly classic anime that I'm embarrassed to say I know nothing about to this day. I remember getting into Gurren Lagann quite a bit myself.

  2. Wow, Gurren Lagann is the only series that I have purchased all the special editions for. It's a fantastic series, try not to freak out over the 4th episode. :P
