Strike Witches or Elfen Lied: You Decide!

I thought this would be a fun way to decide which anime I go into next.  Having just finished up Dance in the Vampire Bund and Paprika, I have all sorts of anime lined up to check out.  Rather than sift through the features on my own, I thought I'd randomly pick two series' just waiting to be watched.  The decision is up to you!

Let me know if you think I should start with Elfen Lied or Strike Witches.  You can leave a comment on this blog, send me a Tweet, email me or event post up on my Facebook.  It's all up to you!  Make sure you let me know why you've chosen the anime that you do!

I'll make my decision based on your comments by the end of the day!

  1. Damn. You picked two opposite anime.

Elfin Lied is a darker, much more violent anime than Strike Witches.

Look. This really depends on what you are in the mood for.

If you are in the mood for a light comedy with a lot of panchira then go with Strike Witches. It's a fin little anime made so the creators could throw in as many panties as bloody possible. The idea was actually brilliant, capitalize on the people looking for ecchi content and have a simple but fun story in the background.

Elfin Lied...where do I start with this one. This is one cruel anime in many ways. The cute, pink haired girls are the main perpetrators of the crimes and violent delimbing of hapless people. The story in this one is a little more involving and while there is a humor aspect, it is still a dark anime. Especially when you find out where Lucy came from and what happened to her. This is one anime you cannot go into with half a brain to get the meat of the story.

I, personally, would suggest Elfin Lied (Elf Song by the by). Strike Witches is good and I love it but I am personally in a darker story mood at the moment. If you are feeling more lighthearted than I, by all means watch Strike Witches. And while you are at it, watch Sky Girls. Better yet, watch Sky Girls first then watch Strike Witches.

Problem is that there are a lot of good anime out there. I have at least 300 non-localized anime on a hard drive somewhere. Localized I have a small library of disks. Ah, it is hard to be an anime fan. Luckily I started young.

  2. I haven't seen either, but from what I've heard, I think I would go with Elfin Lied too.

I'm not a fan of panty shots.

  3. Elfin Lied without a doubt. It's story is much more satisfying. Strike Witches feels more like fluff.
