Educating the world on anime

I want to make this clear from the start.  I know that there are many, many more important topics in the world than anime.  I don't want anyone to think that I believe anime misconceptions to be the biggest issue we're currently facing.  There are indeed many more pressing matters, but this blog's focus is anime.  That makes this anime agenda a topic of utmost importance!

My goal through this anime blog and Twitter is to try and change some minds about anime in general.  There is a lot of hatred out there that comes from  misconceptions and preconceived notions.  Where those come from I do not know, but I'd like to try and fix some of those issues.  Of course, I'll only be able to do so much in a limited space.  It's going to take support from many, many more people to make any kind of measurable shift.

I've been pondering what could be done to slowly inform the pubic on what anime really is and why there are people that enjoy it.  I know there are plenty that wouldn't enjoy anime even knowing what its all about, but there are plenty of uninformed people that have made a decision based on incorrect information.  It's those people that could be reached.  I think that's a pretty important thing that the anime industry as a whole might want to take.

What do you think anime companies and supporters could do to try and spread information on what anime really has to offer?  Should anime localization companies start putting together efforts to detail anime in general for those that are unfamiliar?  Should we start seeing campaigns that raise awareness of the anime bullying and haters out there?

  1. idk I mean anime is something you have to find out on your own. And you have to keep showing it in different places so people get used to it.
